Margot Fitzsimmons

Margot Marie Fitzsimmons is a theater and film director, puppetry artist, producer, arts educator and administrator with a focus on creating creative content for children. She is the recipient of the Winifred Ward Memorial Scholarship Award in 2016 for her demonstration of intellectual and artistic excellence in the area of theater for young audiences. Margot is the Executive Director of a theater and film production company called FitzSili Productions who brings awareness and understanding to underrepresented communities that celebrates artists and diverse audiences.

Her work has been seen in the United States, Holland, Israel, Germany, Taiwan and Austria. She has studied with master puppeteers Ralph Lee, Landis Smith (U.S.), Diego Guzman (Spain), Damiet Van Dalsum (Holland), Made Moja (Indonesia) and Norbert Goetz (Germany). She has served as the Co-Collaborator of the shadow puppetry company Double Image Theatre Lab performing nationally and internationally. Her work with the company has received Jim Henson Seed and Project Grants.

She has worked as a teaching artist and full time drama teacher for organizations like BASIS Independent Manhattan, The New Victory Theatre, American Place Theatre, Young Audiences NY, Roundabout Theater Company and Acting Manitou Theatre Camp. She received a B.A. in Theater and Spanish (Dickinson College, 2004) and M.A. in Educational Theater in Colleges and Communities (NYU, 2007) and an MFA in Theater for Young Audiences (University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa 2016).
