Mentorship

Offering personalized mentorship opportunities for educators of all content areas.

Mentorship

Teaching is a difficult and rewarding profession. The landscape, requirements, curriculum and assessments are constantly shifting. No matter how long one has been teaching, one thing is consistent - a teacher’s biggest need is to have a mentor. So often, teachers do not have the time nor the colleagues with whom to collaborate effectively. With lesson planning, teaching, and grading, where is there time to figure this all out?

3 Looms is designed to give teachers a sounding board to ask questions, brainstorm through difficult problems, and collaborate on creative projects. There is no question too small or too big. Sometimes, teachers just need space and a thought partner to talk through their questions.

3 Looms can be that solution.

“How do I manage this classroom dynamic?”

“How can I work with my school's administrators to better integrate arts into my curriculum?”

“Let me tell you about what just happened today...”

What People Are Saying

Jennifer has been a teacher and advisor to me since the very beginning stages of my career. She has helped shape the educator I have become and continues to mentor me, long after graduation and is someone I now consider a friend. Jennifer’s dedication to education is innovating and is unceasingly inspiring to my pedagogy.
— Wendy R., K-9 Teacher
I often refer to Jennifer Katona’s mentorship as “Katona, fix my classroom”!  When I have spoken to her about specific issues I was facing in my theater classroom she always had a clear and concise piece of advice for me to try with my students and 10 out of 10 times it worked!  When dealing with classroom management issues it can sometimes feel hopeless and overwhelming.  Having Dr. Katona as a mentor allowed me to have an objective eye on issues that were easily rectified through simple strategies.  Her knowledge of child psychology coupled with her own experience in the classroom make her an absolute expert in the field of arts education.  She specifically taught me how to build theater curriculum using a curriculum map and it changed the way I approach content with my students.  Having this tool from Dr. Katona helped me plan out an entire year of instruction that was specific to my population of students and differentiated for different learning styles. With this knowledge I went from fumbling through day to day planning to being confident in knowing my content and having the ability to plan and deliver quality instruction!

The single, most valuable asset a teacher can have is a mentor.
